What the quote is actually made of
A photography quote is rarely one thing. It bundles shooting days, the number of photographers and cinematographers, hours of coverage per function, editing time, and the deliverables — an album, a highlight film, a full-length film, raw files. Two quotes that look far apart are usually selling different bundles rather than different quality, so ask every vendor to break their price into those five components before comparing.
The variables that move the price most
Number of functions is the biggest driver, because each one is a separate crew day. After that: whether you want a cinematographer as well as a stills photographer, whether you need a second shooter for parallel events like the baraat and the bride getting ready, whether the team must travel and stay, and how fast you want delivery. Rush delivery is a genuine premium — editing a wedding properly takes weeks.

The most common mistake is booking late. Established photographers fill peak-season dates far in advance, so a late booking means choosing from whoever is left or paying a scarcity premium. The second most common mistake is buying a large package with deliverables you will not use — an expensive physical album when what you actually wanted was a good highlight film and the full set of edited images.
How to compare fairly
Ask for a full wedding gallery, not a portfolio. Portfolios show the best twenty frames from a hundred weddings; a full gallery shows what your wedding will actually look like when it is delivered. Also ask who specifically will shoot your day — at larger studios, the person you meet is often not the person who turns up.
