What actually drives wedding cost in Delhi-NCR
Venue geography
Central Delhi and Aerocity carry a location premium. The same catering standard in Dwarka, Ghaziabad or Greater Noida usually costs meaningfully less. Many NCR couples save by moving the reception outward and keeping smaller functions closer to home.
Peak season pressure
The November–February window is when almost everyone marries here. Venues, photographers and decorators all price for scarcity in those months. A wedding in July, August or the shoulder weeks of March often sees noticeably softer quotes.
Multi-function culture
NCR weddings frequently run four or five functions — roka, mehndi, haldi, sangeet, wedding, sometimes a separate reception. Every extra function multiplies decor, makeup and photography hours, and this is where budgets quietly overrun.
Farmhouse minimums
Farmhouse venues often carry a minimum guest guarantee. If your actual list is smaller than that minimum, you are paying for empty plates — worth checking before you fall in love with the space.
Where Delhi-NCR couples actually save money
- Ask every venue whether the quoted per-plate rate includes taxes and service charges — in NCR the gap between quoted and final is frequently significant.
- Book photography early. Good NCR photographers fill peak-season dates a year ahead, and late bookings mean either a compromise or a premium.
- Consider a weekday wedding in peak season. The savings are often larger than moving to off-season entirely.
- Negotiate decor as a package across all functions with one vendor rather than pricing each function separately.
Common questions about Delhi-NCR weddings
Is a Delhi wedding more expensive than Mumbai?
On average Delhi-NCR sits slightly below Mumbai on venue costs, largely because NCR has far more land and therefore more large-capacity venues. Mumbai's constraint is space; Delhi's constraint is peak-season demand.
How much should I keep aside as buffer?
Our calculator reserves about 7% by default. In NCR, where multi-function scope creep is common, treating that buffer as untouchable is the single most useful discipline you can adopt.
Which areas are cheaper for banquets?
Generally, venues further from central Delhi — parts of West Delhi, Dwarka, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida and Faridabad — quote lower than Aerocity, Lutyens' Delhi or prime Gurgaon for a comparable standard.
